Billups sees recruiting heat up

The recruiting for cornerback Jared Billups (6-0, 180, 4.5) from Playa Del Rey (Calif.) Saint Bernard has picked up. Billups had a super season on both sides of the ball and has positioned himself as a front runner to be selected League Defensive Player of the Year.
Billups was good on offense, too. He was one of Saint Bernard’s players to pick it up when four-star quarterback Rocky Hinds (6-5, 225, 4.4) went down with an injury just before the season started.

Billups accounted for 29 receptions for 401 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns from his wide receiver position.
As a kick returner, Billups was lethal. He had 728 yards and three touchdowns returning kicks.
On defense, Billups was simply awesome has a lock down cover corner who was just as good against the run as he was against the pass.
Billups racked up 93 tackles, nine interceptions (five of which Billups returned for touchdowns), four fumble recoveries, four fumbles caused and two sacks.
Pretty impressive, isn’t it?
Billups also blocked three punts as a senior.
Utah, UNLV, CSU, WSU and Cal are the early birds recruiting Billups.
