Bigger Bell equals more offers

Hitchcock, Texas, tight end Josh Bell is already one of the Lone Star State’s most dominating players. Standing 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, Bell is a powerful run blocker that also has the speed to get open as a downfield threat. But a bigger, stronger and better Bell might spell disaster for defensive coordinators.
“I’m working out twice a day,” Bell said. “I’m just getting stronger, so I can dominate and blow people off the line on both sides of the ball. I want to get in the best shape I can.”

Bell was planning on attending camp this past week at Texas, but the ride he was planning on using fell through. He does not have any other camp plans, but what he does have plans on taking his time examining the scholarship offers he has.
“I’m now up to seven or eight offers,” Bell said. “I have offers from Missouri, Syracuse, Kansas State, Utah, Colorado State, Texas Tech and Duke. I got so many calls in May that it was crazy. So many people, you know teams like Arkansas, Syracuse, Missouri, Miami and Kansas State. They pretty much all said the same thing.”
With them all saying the same thing, Bell said he’s very open and isn’t going to rush toward a decision.
“I have a top six or seven and that changes all the time,” he said. “When that happens, it just makes me more confused.”
In a run-based offense, Bell caught only four passes for 46 yards as junior. But his physical tools make him one of the Lone Star State’s best.
“He’s a big kid, very lean,” Hitchcock coach Gary Carney said.
“He’s very intelligent. Played wide receiver for us so he has good speed and he has really good hands. We also played him at defensive end. He’s just a quality kid with size and speed and he has some tools,” said Carney. “When you get to college, you have to be able to work within the system and everybody’s a good athlete. Josh has some of the intangibles that I think separate him from most.”
