Big year sees interest roll for RB Francis

Recruiting interest is quickly picking up for 5-foot-9, 181-pound junior running back Khris Francis. The Durham (N.C.) Hillside prospect has a number of colleges strong intrigued already.
"I have no offers at the moment, but interest from North Carolina, Penn State and Duke," he said. "Those are the main schools sending a lot of letters and wanting me to come to games. Also, NC State is interested."

Francis has been to some games this fall.
"I've been to Penn State for a game and NC State, I'm going to Duke soon and two North Carolina games," he said. "Penn State's football atmosphere wowed me, I didn't expect that. The fan base is good and they have a nice engineering program."
According to Francis, most colleges want to wait and see how much bigger he'll grow.
However, does he like anyone?
"I do like Penn State and North Carolina," he said. "I want to get a feel for Duke, their atmosphere and what they are all about since they run the pistol like we do."
Francis says there are a couple schools he'd like to hear from though.
"A dream school would be Miami," he said. "I've heard a bit from Clemson, but I would want more from them too. I plan to attend one of their games.
"I like Clemson cause they produce running backs and Miami is just cause I've always wanted to go to Miami."
With visits picking up, the tailback is looking for a few things in his college destination.
"I'm looking for a school that has a pretty good engineering program, that's what I want to study," he said. "I guess I also want a nice football program and a I want a good relationship with the running back coach."
In seven games this season, Francis has busted out with 1,200-yards on just 150 carries and 18 touchdowns. After playing sparingly a year ago, Francis sees a major difference this season.
"Last year I started part of the season and had about 500-yards," he said. "I guess with more opportunities to gel and get my rhythm in the game I'm playing better.
"My goal is 2,000-yards and a 4.0 GPA by the end of the year. I have a 3.4 GPA at the moment."
So, what sticks out about Francis?
"I think it's my size," he said. "Compared to most backs I'm pretty small, but I can run inside and I have good vision. I guess my mental toughness is good too."
