Richmond (Va.) Varina wide receiver Bobby Smith holds one offer so far. The 6-foot-6, 200-pounder is gaining interest from a number of other schools. Is he close to landing more offers?
"I'm hearing from the same colleges I have been," he said. "They all want me to get my grades up.
"Those include Virginia, Virginia Tech, Buffalo, ODU and Syracuse."
East Carolina is the only offer on the table at this time for the two-star prospect.
"I was going to go to the ECU-Virginia Tech game, but I had a game against George Washington," he said. "I have been in touch with Coach Kirkpatrick. He's trying to get me up there on campus. It will be difficult during the season, but I'm trying.
"They have a good coach and I like the guys in the program."
In two weeks, Smith has stepped up in a major way for Varina with a particularly big game in the opener against George Washington where he registered 80-yards receiving and two touchdowns.
"I just felt like everyone has come together as a team," he said. "We are playing as a unit.
"I think I showed that I can play in the games and I'm coming out to prove myself this year."
