Big WR Attracting Interest

Big wide receivers are quite popular these days and they don't come much bigger than Richmond (Va.) Hermitage wideout Fontel Mines. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound standout has four offers so far and two clear leaders at this point.
"I have offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Richmond so far," said Mines, who caught 29 passes as a junior for 612 yards and 10 touchdowns. "Right now my top five includes UVA, Tech, Florida, Michigan and Clemson."

Although he hoping for more offers over the next few months, Mines admits that staying close to home is attractive.
"Virginia is only an hour away and Virginia Tech is about four hours," he said. "That gives them a slight edge."
Mines said his best 40-time this summer was a 4.4-second effort at UVA's camp. He also camped at Wake Forest, West Virginia and Richmond. With his tall and big frame, has anyone discussed tight end with him?
"Nope, not at all," he said. "I have enough speed to be a wideout. My teammate, Duane Brown, now that's a tight end."
Are Mines and Brown a package deal?
"We've talked about it before but he likes Virginia Tech a little better and I favor UVA just slightly," he said. "We're both still not sure where we want to play."
