Big visits coming up for three-star WR John Jackson

SAN DIEGO – John Jackson has a bunch of official visits planned and it could help the three-star receiver make his decision later on.

“I’m thinking Pac-12 and Illinois definitely,” Jackson said recently at the Honor Bowl.

“It will probably be SC, UCLA, Illinois and Oregon definitely in the mix. Those are the schools I’ve been talking to a lot so those will probably be the visits.”

The Ducks have really stepped it up recently along with Illinois and then the local programs – USC and UCLA – have been in touch for a long while with the Gardena (Calif.) Serra standout.

As for Oregon, seeing the school again will definitely be important.

“They’ve been heavily recruiting me,” Jackson said.

“The coaches reach out to me every day especially during football season. (Coach Keith Heyward) is trying to perfect my game even as a coach, reaching out and asking how I did so that’s been good.”

The three-star prospect has been to UCLA and USC often especially since his father played for the Trojans and he has a lot of connections to that program.

Keeping a close eye on both teams will be important moving forward and that means taking official visits.

“I want to get a better feel,” Jackson said. “A lot of times you can go on an unofficial visit and everything is planned out. An official is more spontaneous to see what the school has to offer.”

The Serra standout said he could make a midseason commitment but will probably wait longer especially since new interest is coming in from Notre Dame, Washington State, Oregon State and others.
