Big Ten offer for Mixon

Joe Mixon landed an offer from Michigan Wednesday night and although the Wolverines were talking to him it still was a big deal when they offered.
The 2014 running back from Oakley (Calif.) Freedom had some ideas about favorites earlier in his recruitment but now things are heating up in a big way so Mixon is taking it all in, taking his time and will figure out leaders later on.

The Michigan offer is a big thing for Mixon, who said he's been talking with the coaches there and that it's important for him to learn more about the program.
"That's a big one," Mixon said. "I've been hearing from them so it wasn't a surprise but I want to say I was waiting for it and I didn't think it would come so soon.
"That was a huge one. God blessed me with something nice."
Mixon, a 6-foot, 180-pound prospect who just finished up his junior season highlight tape, knows the basics about the Michigan program but he's going to learn more now that the Wolverines offered.
He's been in close contact with Michigan special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Dan Ferrigno and that's one way he'll learn even more about the school and football program.
"Coach Ferrigno is going to go all over the history the next time I talk to him," Mixon said. "He wanted me to learn about the campus and the school and the environment and everybody there. He was explaining stuff like that."
So far, Mixon has landed offers from Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Michigan, Oregon State and Washington. He's taking an unofficial visit to UCLA on Thursday.
In his junior season, the Oakley Freedom standout rushed for 1,443 yards and 20 touchdowns on 201 carries.
