Big Ten offer first for Marshall

The first offer is on the board for two-way Mesquite, Texas prospect D.J. Marshall.
At 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, the question was never talent but which side of the ball the Metroplex prospect would be recruited to play at the next level. After working out at the NIKE Training Camp in Fort Worth, Texas this past weekend at defensive end, it appears that position is emerging.

His first offer, coming last week, came for that position as well.
"I got my first offer from Minnesota and I was really excited," Marshall said. "Finally, someone noticed me. When I was at Lancaster (High School), I didn't have a lot of recruiters come by yet. After being at Mesquite for a while, people found me after the move.
Marshall says that Notre Dame, Illinois, and Baylor are just three other schools he's seen come by the school to watch practice. He's already thinking about upcoming visits.
"I'm going to take a visit to Minnesota for sure at some point," Marshall said. "I'm also going to go to LSU and Baylor. Those visits will probably be in August sometime or during the fall."
Marshall at one time was looked strongly at tight end along with defense. It appears that now he's looking to line up on the defensive side of the ball exclusively.
"They're both the same in my mind, but since defensive end is where I'm lining up now, I'm going to keep my focus on that. That's also where I worked at the NIKE Camp and I did well."
