Big Tampa WR drawing interest

Over the last several years the city of Tampa has produced some great wide receivers, including top ten NFL draft pick Mike Williams. This year the city has another bumper crop and yet another name to add to the list is Tampa (Fla.) Gaither star Carlton Mitchell.
"I have offers from West Virginia, Maryland and Iowa that I know of for sure," Mitchell said. "Those are in writing. Other schools have said that they would offer, but I have not seen it in writing. Miami and Florida both called and have been sending a lot of mail."

The 6-foot-3, 188-pound Mitchell attended the NIKE camp in Tallahassee where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds, a 3.84 second shuttle and a 3-inch vertical jump.
"Right now my top five would be West Virginia, Miami, South Florida, Florida and Iowa," Mitchell said. "West Virginia is my leader right now though. I went to camp up there and really liked everything I saw. I really liked the coaching staff and the campus atmosphere."
In mostly a running offense, Mitchell caught nine passes for 234 yards and one touchdown as a junior.
"I am supposed to go to the Florida camp in a few weeks, but they haven't sent back my information yet," Mitchell said. "I will be looking at the personnel of the team. I want to learn about the quarterbacks and wide receivers they have on roster already."
Mitchell is ranked as the No. 41 player in the state of Florida by Rivals.com.
"I'm not in a rush to make a decision," Mitchell said. "I am going to take my visits and take my time in making a decision. I think some schools are waiting to see what I do during the season."
