Long Island (N.Y.) North Babylon running back Jason Gwaltney finally cracked the Rivals100 coming in at No. 91 to the delight of West Virginia fans everywhere. However, there's good news and bad news for Mountaineer fans. The good news is that Gwaltney is still committed to West Virginia. The bad news? Other schools aren't giving up.
"I'm still getting a bunch of stuff from some big schools saying that they'll be calling me when they can and still want me," said the 6-foot-0, 234-pounder. "I called a few of the coaches just to see what's up. I'm still committed to West Virginia, but I think I might take two or three official visits to other places to make sure."
Notre Dame, Ohio State, Nebraska, Virginia, Pitt, Michigan, Michigan State and Tennessee are a few of the schools that are still actively recruiting the big running back. All of them except for Michigan have offered.
"Michigan told me that they still need my film, but if my film is as good as I was in person at the NIKE Camp, they said they'd offer," he said. "I'm sending them film soon. Like I said, I'm still committed to West Virginia, but I want to take a look at some other places."
Gwaltney, who rushed for 2,601 yards and 45 scores as a junior, said he has two places in mind for visits.
"I will probably visit Michigan State and I'd like to visit Michigan if they offer," he said. "I'm not sure who the third school would be if there is one. I'm also going to take an official visit to West Virginia of course."
Gwaltney could be running out of a more traditional I-Formation this season (he ran out of a Wing-T last year) due to a lack of blockers in the backfield.
"I think that would be cool and allow me to show more of what I can do," he said. "They'll still put 10 in the box and blitz every play, but I'll still get my yards."
