Big safety looking at baseball options

Two sports are on the mind for Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek safety Darin McDonald with baseball and football both playing a role in his college decision.
Ranked as the No. 15 rated player in the state of Colorado for football, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect is also looking at playing baseball too in college which has put an interesting twist on his recruitment.

"Most of the colleges know I want to play football and baseball so they're taking that into play," McDonald said. "Nebraska, UCLA, Oklahoma, and Nevada have all expressed interest both ways and been real receptive to that. They said they would talk to me later about it in the season."
His summer has been filled with 7-on-7 tournaments for football and regional tournaments for baseball. McDonald has been busy but is also looking at when his first scholarship offer comes so he can pull the trigger as soon as possible.
"It's basically going to be between now and the end of the football season," McDonald said. "I'm going to try and visit UCLA and Nebraska sometime soon. Those are for sure ones I want to check out."
As for who would offer first, that is a Big 12 school that he's very interested in at this point.
"I would say probably Nebraska," McDonald said. "I've been talking to both coaches and both sports and they said they would see how things work out with the rest of the recruitment and then let me know sometime this fall."
