Big opportunity for prep lineman

Offensive lineman Jay Kenney of North Bridgeton (Me.) Bridgton Academy has remained patient as schools continue to show serious interest. Over the last week, that interest has picked up even more, and on Wednesday he will be able to showcase his abilities in front of many of these coaches.
"I'm close to offers now from a lot of schools," said Kenney. "Many of them want me to transfer in mid-year. Maine's head coach was in on Thursday, along with Toledo. Delaware has been contacting me on the phone. UMass is coming to see on Wednesday, Bowling Green is talking about offering if they take a third lineman, and Western Michigan is talking to me about maybe taking an official visit on December 17th."

Kenney, 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, has yet to schedule any visits, in larger part to an event that will take place on Wednesday, which may take his recruitment to another level.
"No visits are hammered down right now," said Kenney. "Our big recruiting combine is Wednesday in Portland, and I will know then."
Kenney gave some more insight on the annual event.
"Our school holds a combine at the end of the year and up to fifty college coaches attend," said Kenney. "It starts off with agility drills, then we get into full pads and work 1-on-1's, then in the end the offense scrimmages the defense. I want to dominate the 1-on-1 pass rushing and run blocking, and show good feet and technique."
As he mentioned above, school's are discussing the possibility of Kenney enrolling in January.
"Well if it's going to happen I am open to the idea," said Kenney. "But I want to get out and see the campus and meet the coaches to make sure it's a place I want to be."
Kenney is mainly being recruited as an offensive guard by schools, and played his high school football in Massachusetts.
