Big OL has great bloodlines

Talk about football bloodlines -- Mike Schmeding of Rutherford (N.J.) St. Mary’s is one of the state's biggest players this upcoming season standing 6-foot-8 and weighing 285 pounds.
Schmeding has a maximum bench press of 330 pounds and runs a 5.3-second 40-yard dash, all very impressive. However, what should make Schmeding so attractive to college recruiters is the fact that he comes from a long line of D-I players in his family.

"My father played at Arizona State, I have two uncles that played at Boston College in the mid-70's, another uncle and my grandfather both played at Notre Dame and I have an uncle who played at the University of Minnesota."
With schools such as Boston College, Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia, Notre Dame, Penn State and Wisconsin all showing interest, Mike hopes to carry on the family tradition.
"Those schools are my favorites right now. They are all showing interest, but I know it's still early in the recruiting process."
Last season Schmeding was an all-league selection as an offensive tackle and college recruiters are sure to be keeping a close eye on him.
"With so many family members playing big-time football, I'll have a lot of help during the recruiting process. I won't be swayed by where everyone played because I need to choose a school that's right for me."
Schmeding will camp at Maryland for sure and is interested in both the Rutgers and Boston College summer camps as well.
"I'm definitely going to the Maryland camp because that's a contact camp for lineman. The others are still up in the air right now, but I'm leaning towards them as well."
