SANTA ANA, Calif. – Chris Murray was covered in sweat but he was also covered with a smile a couple weeks ago when his Mater Dei squad snapped Las Vegas Bishop Gorman’s 55-game win streak.

It was a monster victory for Murray and his team but only one win in a long season and the four-star offensive guard wanted to keep things in perspective.

“My team and I were working hard all week,” Murray said. “We didn’t come in here and care about who the team was.

“We were just working hard, win or lose, we were going to keep on working. It was such a great feeling to get that W. No. 1 in the nation doesn’t mean a lot so we’re going to get back next week and keep working.”

As for Murray’s recruitment, he’s planning an official visit for sure to Utah since the Utes have been recruiting him for so long.

Utah has been involved with the four-star for a while and that is going to play into Murray’s decision-making process.

“Loyalty is a big thing for me,” Murray said.

“Before I started blowing up, the coaches told me to remember who was after me first before I got my other offers. Utah is one of my main schools because they’ve believed in me since I was a junior.”

But there is some serious competition. The Mater Dei standout said he’s also going to take official trips to Notre Dame and Stanford – two huge offers Murray received this summer – and then he’ll figure his other visits out as well.

A commitment date is also being finalized.

“I haven’t really narrowed my schools down to five yet,” Murray said. “I’m going to do that soon and then I’ll commit at the Army game.”
