Big offers starting to roll in for Newsome

THE LATEST: Last week was a big week for 2019 defensive back Quinton Newsome. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound junior out of Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett picked up offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and West Virginia in a four day span and his recruitment has taken offer.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "It feels good to see all of these offers starting to come in," said Newsome. "Most of them really came out of nowhere. West Virginia was the one that had shown some attention, but most of the offers were a big surprise. Each of them had a coach come through the school to tell my coach about the offer."

STILL LEARNING: "I do not really know much about the schools that offered me last week yet. I have been to camp and a game at Vanderbilt, so I know I like their set up of things and how they take care of the players. I have camped at Auburn, so that was nice and I like the environment there. Other than that, I do not really know much yet. Coach McGriff at Ole Miss is a coach I have had a good conversation with, so I am just learning about the schools right now."

ONE DOES STAND OUT: "Auburn would be my top school right now. When I was over there for camp in the summer, I really liked it. It was just a good feeling there around the coaches and I just felt I fit in well there."

OFFERS ARE MOTIVATION: "I just want to keep working and keep better. These offers are great and I am glad to have them, but I know I have to keep working to earn more. These will just keep me training harder, working harder and doing all I can to get better."

RIVALS REACTION: It was only a matter of time for Newsome. He started off the season at free safety, then moved to cornerback and he never looked back. He was a big part of a stingy defense that helped North Gwinnett win a state title. He is a versatile defensive back with great length that will continue to add offers. Auburn is the school that stands out to him early on out of the schools that have offered, but he is still considering each school. Florida is the school he grew up a fan of as a kid. He has yet to hear from the Gators, but if they offer, they will quickly move up his list. He plans to visit Wake Forest February 3.
