Big offer comes in for Summers-Gavin

San Francisco (Calif.) St. Ignatius offensive lineman Matt Summers-Gavin has right around 20 scholarship offers including most of his favorites. One of the schools high on Summers-Gavin's list who had yet to offer has recently done so and it will be interesting to see if this may speed up the decision making process for the talented lineman.
Summers-Gavin , 6-4, 275 pounds is a top 100 player nationally as well as the top rated center in the nation. He plays tackle for St. Ignatius and could play just about anywhere on the offensive line in college.

It seems like every week, the lineman adds a few more offers and this week is no exception.
"I just got off the phone with Coach (Charlie) Weis and he offered me a scholarship," Summers-Gavin said. "He texted me and said to call him and when I did, he offered me and told me how much they want me. With the education, athletics and tradition at Notre Dame, it definitely looks like a nice place to grow, on and the off the field."
In addition to the offer from Notre Dame, Boston College, Oklahoma, Washington State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Virginia and Northwestern have also offered in the last couple of weeks.
"I have around 20 offers right now and I'm going to start narrowing things down to a top five or eight pretty soon here," Summers-Gavin said. "I'm still going to take my trips but Notre Dame is pretty high right now and has a pretty good chance.
"I'll have a set list of schools more towards the middle to end of August. Then I'll set up my visits. I don't want to make an impulsive decision.
"I just got back from taking visits to Oregon and Oregon State and that was cool. I still haven't seen a lot of the other schools on my list though so I think it's important I take my time and use my official visits to make sure I'm making a well informed decision."
