Big July for Baldwin

The month of July is usually one of the slowest months of the year in recruiting. Homestead (Fla.) South Dade cornerback Darin Baldwin certainly had a big month picking up offers from some top programs.
"I have gotten offers from Florida, Clemson, Georgia and NC State this month," Baldwin said. "Miami has not offered yet, but they have been showing a lot of interest lately. I called coach Cristobal and he had been on vacation and had not been talking to any of the coaches. He is trying to get them to offer me, he said they would be calling me every week after September 1."

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound Baldwin attended the NIKE camp in Miami where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds and posted a 30-inch vertical jump.
"Right now my top four would be Miami, Florida, Auburn and NC State," Baldwin said. "Florida State is still in there too, but they haven't officially offered yet. They've been sending a lot of stuff, but I haven't seen a written offer in the mail yet. I think they have a lot of defensive backs or something, I don't really know. Really Florida and Miami stand out a little bit, but I'm just waiting to see how the season goes."
As a junior Baldwin picked off six passes and earned honorable mention all-state honors.
"I am going to go to the Miami-Florida State game down here the first week of the season," Baldwin said. "I always go to all the Miami home games and I probably will again this year. I also want to get up to games at Florida and Florida State."
In addition to the NIKE camp Baldwin attended camps at Florida and Miami over the summer.
"I am mainly just waiting to see how the season goes," Baldwin said. "I haven't ruled any schools out or anything, I just want to take some visits and talk to the coaches when they can call. I don't really know when I will make a decision, I guess just whenever it feels right."
