Big interest is coming for Cummings RB

Burlington (N.C.) Cummings is home to two prospects in 2009. The star of the class is a 5-foot-11, 225-pound running back who is receiving interest from colleges across the country.
"I tell you what, he is receiving mail from everybody in the country," Cummings head coach Jay Perdue said about running back Audie Smith. "He's gotten mail from North Carolina, NC State, Maryland, LSU, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisville and East Carolina, just about everybody from the ACC and SEC.

"Nobody has offered him yet, but NC State really likes him and North Carolina and Maryland are talking too. Maryland needs a fullback."
Perdue discussed his star back a bit more.
"He could play both ways as an inside linebacker or a running back," he said. "I think he's a fullback. He's a very explosive player that's played everywhere. He was a defensive end as a freshman.
"As a sophomore he ran for 1,500-yards and then last year we threw more and he still ran for 1,000. He is a powerful running back that reminds you of Franco Harris. He's nibble footed and catches the ball very well out of the backfield. He caught 500-yards last year. He's very knowledgeable of the game as well."
Smith isn't the only prospect to watch at Cummings in 2009, the school also features a talented 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker, Montrell Morrow.
"North Carolina, NC State and Tennessee are very interested in him," he said. "He is a great athlete at the linebacker position. He's got good speed, is a long guy with low body fat and is aggressive. He is the epitome of a linebacker.
"Off the field, he is a very personable, spiritual guy. He goes to church a lot and is very active in church. He is an all-around good young man."
Perdue plans to take both of his prospects to the Nike Camp at Chapel Hill later this spring.
