Big East offer for Florida LB

Hawthorne (Fla.) linebacker Marcus Gordon got good news last week when a Big East program called to verbally offer him.
"Syracuse offered me last week," Gordon said. "They said they like my talent. They asked if I wanted to get exposed to everything they have there and learn more about their college. They talked about they are good with academics and all of that."

The Orange are interested in the 6-foot-2, 217-pound linebacker as an outside linebacker, but he says he has the versatility to play inside or outside linebacker at the collegiate level. With regards to his first offer, he is working to find out more about their program.
"I know they went 8-5 last year," Gordon said. "I am trying to do some research on them and learn everything they are about.""
Gordon mentioned that he was hoping to make it up to Syracuse this summer for a visit. He said he expects to see the Orange at a spring practice of his in the coming months as well.
While he holds just one offer, a few other schools are expressing an interest.
"I am hearing from Florida State, UCF, Bethune-Cookman," Gordon said.
He has previously visited one of those in-state schools and came away very impressed.
"I have seen Florida State during last football season," Gordon said. "I went down there and visited there during last season. I met a lot of players and all of the coaches. They have a lot of good athletes and their program is pretty nice."
As a youngster, Gordon says that he always was a Seminole fan and that he remains highly interested in the Tallahassee-based program.
"I always liked Florida State," Gordon said. "They have always been my favorite team growing up. I just like the way they work and how they come hard every year."
In the coming months, Gordon wants to visit Florida State and Miami, in addition to traveling to Syracuse.
As a junior, Gordon racked up 66 tackles and five interceptions.
