Big day for Georgia LB

Keysville (Ga.) Burke County linebacker/fullback Marcus Washington has gone without much mention this recruiting season. However, that is all about to change.
“I got my first scholarship offer today (Thursday),” said Washington. “I didn’t just get one though, I got three offers from Alabama, Auburn and East Carolina. This was possibly the best day of my life.”

Indeed it was a big day for the 6-foot-0, 210-pound outside linebacker. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, has a 275 pound bench press and 400 pound squat.
“I am getting handwritten letters from a lot of schools that haven’t offered. Some of the main schools that are sending me the most letters are Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and South Carolina.”
Washington rushed for over 400 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, but he will likely earn his keep at linebacker on the college level.
“My top five is Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and South Carolina. Georgia is my number one school right now. My mom and dad raised me up a Georgia boy and it is my dream to play there.”
He plans to attend the NIKE camp at Georgia Tech on May 8th as well as some team camps over the summer.
Washington has already been to Athens for junior day and the Bulldog coaching staff requested he come to camp in July, as did the Auburn staff.
“I want to play for a coaching staff that has a good personality. Guys that will work with you on and off the field. Like if you need help in a class, they will get you help and those kinds of things. I really want to stay kind of close to home, I wouldn’t mind leaving home, but I don’t want to go anywhere outside the southeast.”
