Big day for Briggs

CLEVELAND – Convoy (Ohio) Crestview receiver Briggs Orsbon had a big day on Tuesday.
After taking an unofficial visit to Akron and picking up his second official scholarship offer, he was one of the stars of the Elite Skills Camp later that afternoon at the Cleveland Browns Stadium. All in all it was big day for the 6-foot, 185-pound receiver that is shooting up the charts.

"This was about as much fun as it gets," Orsbon said. "I had a wonderful time on my visit and then especially at the camp. It doesn't get any better than this."
Let's start with the visit to Akron.
Orsbon already had an offer from Bowling Green heading into the day, but he arrived early at Akron to visit the campus and meet with the coaching staff. He spent plenty of one-on-one time with Zip head coach J.D. Brookhart and came away generally impressed with Akron.
"I just talked to the coaches, and they showed me around campus," Orsbon said. "Coach then sat me down and asked me a couple of questions, not just about football. And then he told me he'd be sending me papers next week for an offer.
"The campus is really nice there. The new indoor facility is great and all that. And they're getting a new stadium that comes in my sophomore year of college, and I'm real excited about that. It'll be nice. Yeah, it's definitely a place I could play at. It's only 3 hours away and that's not too bad. The coach, he's all about discipline. He's not trying to get any problem players or anything."
Orsbon said he hopes the performance on the camp helped him possibly land even more offers.
"I know a couple of the schools from the MAC were here and wanted to see me, so I'm hoping it improves my stock even more competing with some of these big guys," he said.
Duke, Purdue and Miami of Ohio are the other teams that have been sending him mail, but with coaches from all over the nation at the camp on Tuesday, watch for Orsbon's stock to shoot through the roof.
