Big body TE picking up interest

Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee tight end Jeff Ide may not be a name that you're real familiar with right now. However, Manatee coach Joe Kinnan says you might want to store that name away in the memory bank.
"He is not getting a lot of publicity because he missed all of spring," Kinnan said. "He played last year and some colleges know about him, but outside of that not a lot of people do. He messed his ankle up real bad and had to have surgery and missed spring.

He missed out first game because he went up to make a catch in practice about two weeks ago and came down on it wrong. He'll be fine and we hope he'll be back for our next game."
Ide is a 6-foot-6, 250 pounder who is athletic and has already scored a 1000 on the SAT. He plays tight end currently, but his coach says that he may not end up there.
"He plays tight end for us right now because he is so athletic and he has good hands," Kinnan said. "I think he will probably end up as an offensive lineman in college. He's a real big kid that has good feet and he can put on that weight that you need."
Just because Ide is just making his way onto the recruiting radar right now there are others that already know about him.
"Clemson, South Carolina and a lot of other schools have him on their mailing lists," Kinnan said. "I think since they didn't get to see him in spring they are really watching to see how he bounces back this fall."
