One of the top offensive linemen in Pennsylvania in the 2015 class is Ryan Bates. The Warminster (Pa.) Archbishop Wood Catholic standout already has six offers and is starting to take visits.
"Virginia was my first offer," said the 6-foot-6, 280-pound Bates. "Coach Fairchild came to my school and talked to my coach for a while. Later that night my coach called me up and told me Virginia wanted to offer. I got really excited because it was my first offer.
"Temple was my second one," he said. "Then it was South Carolina, Penn State, Georgia Tech and Rutgers."

Bates has already started to develop good relationships with some of these schools.
"It's going pretty well with Virginia so far," Bates said. "I'm going down to visit Virginia on Monday and South Carolina on Tuesday. I just want to get a feel for the coach, meet with some academic advisors and get a feel for the campus.
"Everything is going well with Penn State also," he said. "They're probably the school I talk to the most. They've come to the school a lot. Being so close to home is one factor for them. I have a Penn State visit planned for July 27.
"Rutgers and Georgia Tech are the schools that I haven't talked to very much," said Bates. "I've talked with Rutgers and Georgia Tech two or three times but all the other schools are more than that."
More schools are sure to offer Bates and he has a good idea of which one will be next.
"My coach was telling me that Maryland asked for my transcripts so they could be on the verge of offering me," he said.
Bates' upcoming visits to Virginia and South Carolina will be the first time he has visited any school.
