SAN DIEGO - Merlin Robertson has one official visit scheduled and it’s coming up soon.

The four-star linebacker from Gardena (Calif.) Serra is planning to visit Oklahoma for its game against Tulane in a couple weeks and he said he’s really looking forward to what he sees during his trip to Norman.

The coaching staff has been highly involved with Robertson, asking not only about his football but off-the-field things as well and the Serra standout has definitely taken notice.

“I set up one official visit to Oklahoma for my bye week for their home game against Tulane,” Robertson said after Serra los to Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou in the Honor Bowl last weekend. “I’ll be out there.

“They’ve shown a lot of interest and a lot of love so they always check up on me not only with the team and everything but with school and with life. I want to look into them.”

As for other official visits, Robertson said he’s been keeping close watch on LSU, Oregon and BYU and he could take trips to all three of those schools but nothing else has been scheduled yet.

If the four-star linebacker decides to stay closer to home, Robertson said USC has stayed involved with him and he’s seriously consider a visit there as well.

A decision is not expected soon. The Serra standout said he’s leaning toward waiting things out and making a decision on National Signing Day.
