Big 12 school first to offer Homa

Brookfield (Wisc.) Central offensive lineman Jacob Homa has watched his teammate, four-star defensive end Chikwe Obasih, generate a number of scholarship offers early in the process, but late last week it was the 6-5, 260-pound Homa's turn to get on the board with his first offer.
"On Friday I got an offer from Iowa State," Homa reported. "I talked to Coach [Curtis] Bray [on Thursday] and he had hinted towards it, then Coach [Paul] Rhoads told me at 10 o'clock the following day.

"It kind of blew me away. I tried to play it off when he told me I had gotten a scholarship, and at one point he asked if I was excited about that. I told him I didn't know what to say, I was tickled. It was an adrenaline rush."
Since receiving the offer, Homa and his family have discussed taking a visit to Ames to check out Iowa State's campus and that trip will take place on March 31.
"I have never been down to Iowa State," Homa said. "Coach Bray came up to Wisconsin to visit Alec James over at Brookfield East and then he came over to see Chikwe Obasih at our school. I feel like I was in the right place at the right time to get noticed."
Homa played right tackle this past fall for Brookfield Central and believes Iowa State is also recruiting him for the tackle position. Iowa, Purdue and Central Michigan have also been showing interest lately.
"Next weekend I am going to Central Michigan," Homa said. "I have talked to them pretty extensively over the last couple months and it sounds like they are really interested as well. I talk to Coach [Butch] Barry over there."
