2015 Olathe (Kan.) North tight end Josh Moore lists three scholarship offers. He says Texas Tech has been holding down his top spot for quite some time.
But coaching movement has the potential to jeopardize things as they relate to the current pecking order. The Red Raiders are holding down the top spot at the moment, but the standings could easily change at any moment.
"The thing is, I haven't really been talking to Texas Tech at all lately because Coach (Sonny) Cumbie was recruiting me there and he moved over to TCU," Moore said. "So I don't know. Texas Tech is still my favorite. I just haven't talked to them that much."
Cumbie is wasting no time attempting to say Moore to his new employer. The recruiting pitches have started and an in-person visit is being scheduled. Selling a prospect on a second school isn't a comfortable or easy task, but it's one Cumbie has committed himself to accomplishing.
"He's coming in to see me soon," Moore said. "I really don't know much at all about them yet, but I know coach really well so I want to find out. We're really close."
Oregon, Illinois and Arkansas have also recently entered Moore's recruitment, though none of the group has offered yet. Still, one of the newcomers has a leg up on the pack.
"Oregon stands out," Moore said. "Well, I guess all of them do really. Oregon is just really good."
As a junior at Olathe North, Moore helped his team to an 8-4 record and a pair of wins in the Kansas state tournament.
