THE LATEST: There was some talk earlier talk by Beck that he would make a commitment soon, but he has since decided to slow things down. He currently holds scholarship offers from Baylor, Colorado, Houston, Kansas, SMU, and Texas Tech. Texas Tech has made a very strong impression and has caught his attention. He has also taken notice of Houston, and was watching as the Cougars topped Memphis over the weekend.
IN HIS WORDS: On Houston: "[Saturday] I wasn't able to make it (to the game), but I've been talking to the coaches and me and coach Najvar's relationship is real good. I like the program and I like what they're doing this year and I was excited to watch them."
On his decision timetable: "Yes sir, I decided to hold up. I'm just realizing I'm going to take it slow and probably wait until my senior year and see where things go from there. But as of right now, I'm just holding back."
On standout programs: "(Texas) Tech is starting to standout. My relationship with the position coach there is strong and with every other coach. They send me handwritten mail every single day. I talk to coach Curtis nearly every single day. They're really standing out."
On coach Kevin Curtis: "You just talk to him every day and he's a real straight forward dude. He's always genuine. He's a nice guy. He's just a person you can talk to about literally anything. It doesn't have to be about football, he's just a person to talk to."
WHAT'S NEXT: Beck plans to take several visits after the season, and he mentioned TCU and Oklahoma as visit possibilities. Both programs have been keeping in touch and have invited him to games during the 2015 season. Beck and George Ranch are currently 11-0, and face Nederland in the 5A Division I playoffs on Friday night.
