Big 12 offers first for Mitchell

With a strong team ready to hit the field in 2007, it's no surprise that another Spring (Texas) Westfield junior prospect has picked up a scholarship offer.
This time it's all-district linebacker Herman Mitchell, who actually has added not one, but two offers recently. The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder says that he has a few favorites and some ideas about visits coming up.

Despite all that, the talented defender was definitely happy about his first two offers from the Big 12.
"It was kind of a surprise," Mitchell said about the first offers. "I didn't expect Missouri and Colorado to come. I like the Big 12 North. I like the Big 12 period. I just love it."
Other teams that seem to be sending a lot of mail and showing a lot of interest are Kansas and Texas Tech according to Mitchell. He also has an early top five.
"I like Texas, (Texas) A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, and I'd say Kansas State," Mitchell said. "Texas, that's been my school. I've watched them in basketball and football. I went to A&M for a junior day and I enjoyed it. They really caught my eye.
"LSU, I have a friend who goes there (Danny McCray) and I like how their defense is. Oklahoma and Kansas State, I wouldn't mind playing there either. They fit in there too."
So where is Mitchell headed next for a visit?
"Missouri wants me to come out as soon as I can," Mitchell said. "If I can't get out there before the summer, they're going to get me out there during the season. I should be hearing from Colorado soon about getting out there. Then I'm also going to LSU for a camp in June."
