Big 12 leader for Mabin

Football season is upon us, and as high school programs near the start of their 2013 championship runs, many top college recruits are zeroing in on college decisions.
In Klein, Texas, Klein Oak linebacker Josh Mabin is thinking through his options. He recently added an offer from Kansas to the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma State, Colorado, and Washington State.

In June he listed a top three of Baylor, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State, but as the season nears he admits one school is now at the top of his list.
"After some time you kind of realize who is really sincere and I really like Oklahoma State a lot," Mabin said. "My position coach and the DC, coach Glenn Spencer, he was the first to offer me. Since day one sophomore year, the ACL injury, through everything, I've been in contact with him for three years straight and not a word has changed. I'm the man he wants and it's shown. He has proof of that."
The Cowboys have set themselves up as the team to beat going into the season, but are there plans to commit, to the Cowboys or anyone else, in the near future?
"Possibly early into the season," Mabin said.
The standout linebacker does not know much more about his possible decision timeline. He has not thought that far. He does not have any visits lined up, but would not mind taking a trip to Stillwater.
"I don't have any planned visits, but if there's an opportunity for me to get up there I'll probably make a visit," Mabin said.
For now though, Mabin is not thinking too much about the recruiting process. He has other priorities at the moment.
"No, I'm not really worried about recruiting right now," Mabin said. "I'm just worried about the season at hand."
Mabin and his teammate do not have long to wait with Klein Oak's season kicking off on August 30, at Houston (Texas) Langham Creek.
