Big 12 battle for Love

Things just keep getting better for North Garland (Texas) High School outside linebacker Jermaine Love.
Tulsa and Wisconsin have joined the list of scholarship offers that also includes Arkansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Washington State, and TCU. The 6-foot, 200-pound Love says he has a few favorites in mind, but anything can change leading up to the season.

"Right now, my top schools would probably be between Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, Washington State, and TCU," Love said. "I'd say if I had to name a No. 1 it would be between K-State, Nebraska, and Iowa State."
With so many offers on the table, what makes those three schools so appealing?
"Coach Jay Norvell from Nebraska is a really good guy," Love said. "I talk to him like one of my friends. I've been texting him for a long time. They're a program on the rise and that's the kind of place I want to be at."
"Kansas State has been with me from the beginning along with Iowa State. Even before I had grabbed the SAT score I needed, they were there offering and talking about how much they wanted me. That's a big deal."
As he prepares to start practices this week, Love says that he's not worried about a decision anytime soon. Plus, there could be other schools coming with offers.
Texas is a program that has been on his list and he's waiting to see what they're planning to do.
"Coach Bobby Kennedy told me that I just need to be real patient right now," Love said about the Horns. "Right now, it's a numbers game because they don't have a ton of spots. I'm just waiting to see what they're going to do."
If Texas were to offer, that may change things. However, Love says that he's not thinking that way yet.
"Texas is a great program and they're up there with me," Love said. "At the same time, they've got a lot of young linebackers there. I want to go to a place where I have a good shot of playing. It's hard to tell until they send me something."
Love says he plans on making a decision "whenever it feels right."
"I'm going to take some official visits," he said. "I don't have those set up yet. I'll take those and then do it when I'm ready."
