Best of the West: Top Performers

Recruiting wrap: Barnes is committed to UCLA.
Performance: The four-star linebacker was terrific in coverage, keeping up with opponents out of the backfield and also recognizing crossing routes up the middle. He blew up a few plays by being physical within the first five yards, but also had the quickness to run with receivers on some wheel routes. Barnes was great around the ball, too, showing good closing speed and the ability to knock away passes.

CB
Jordan Parker
Pittsburg, Calif.
Recruiting wrap: Parker is committed to UCLA.
Performance: It didn't take long for Parker to show off Sunday. On just the second play of the event, the newest UCLA commit read a curl route, anticipated the throw and made a great catch for an interception he would have taken all the way back for a score. The four-star corner kept up with receivers and even played some offense, making some difficult catches in traffic.

ATH
Najee Harris (2017)
Antioch (Calif.) Senior
Recruiting wrap: Harris is committed to Alabama.
Performance: No one oozed athleticism more than Harris, who had a couple one-handed catches while he was falling to the ground. He was specifically difficult to cover on post routes toward the middle of the field, where his big frame allowed him to body up defenders and go up for the football. Harris might be a running back, but he has the hands that could make him a weapon at a variety of spots.
5
DB
CJ Pollard
Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Recruiting wrap: Pollard visited Utah over the weekend and has the Utes in his soft top five, along with Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon and USC. He intends to take trips to see the Wolverines and Ducks before making a decision this summer.
Performance: The sneaky Pollard was up to his old antics, tricking quarterbacks into throwing to his side and then making play after play. The four-star safety often baits the opponent into thinking he has more room than he actually does, and then closes well on the football to either knock it away or haul it in. He had a couple interceptions that had quarterbacks scratching their heads.

WR
Damian Alloway
Fontana (Calif.) Summit
Recruiting wrap: Alloway has a final two of California and UCLA. He visited the Golden Bears last weekend and plans to check out the Bruins in the coming weeks before announcing in late May or early June.
Performance: The four-star athlete was essentially unguardable from the slot receiver position. He made quick moves off the line of scrimmage and was his usual self in open space -- too elusive for linebackers and too savvy for safeties. Alloway doesn't just get open with ease; he has solid hands and often makes his quarterbacks look very good.
7
ATH
Curtis Robinson
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
Recruiting wrap: Robinson is committed to Stanford.
Performance: Whether at safety, linebacker or wideout, the four-star prospect had an effect all afternoon. Robinson was very reliable inside the red zone, using his size to overpower defenders, but also outsmarting those that thought they had him cornered. On the defensive side, Robinson closes on the ball as well as anybody in the region.
8
CB
Thomas Graham (2017)
Corona (Calif.) Eleanor Roosevelt
Recruiting wrap: Graham has a top five of Arizona State, Boise State, UCLA, Utah and Washington, and wants to commit in late May or early June along with Alloway.
Performance: In perhaps the most entertaining sequence of the day, Graham bodied the much bigger Harris one-on-one for a couple series. And despite the size disparity, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Graham more than held his own, pressing Harris and locking him up. Graham had a fine showing throughout the tournament, but really stepped up when the pressure was on him.
9
DB
Lamar Jackson
Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin
Recruiting wrap: Jackson visited UCLA and USC over the weekend and hopes to visit Michigan this summer. The dynamic defensive back could announce a decision as early as this summer.
Performance: Jackson, the defensive back MVP at the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Las Vegas two months ago, was a nuisance to receivers once again, shutting down his side of the field all tournament. Quarterbacks hardly tested him because he anticipated routes well and helped corners down field. When the ball was thrown his way, Jackson made plays, including an over-the-shoulder interception in the end zone.
10
LB
Lokeni Toailoa
Rialto (Calif.) Carter
Recruiting wrap: Toailoa is committed to UCLA.
Performance: The 7-on-7 setting might not be the best fit for Toailoa given that he does most of his dirty work inside the tackles, but he certainly held his own Sunday. Toailoa was a wall within five yards and managed to accelerate toward the perimeter when he had to.
11
WR
Joseph Jones
Upland, Calif.
Recruiting wrap: Jones was at the Rose Bowl on Saturday for UCLA's spring showcase, and he's hearing from the likes of San Diego State, Washington and Washington State.
Performance: The 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver ran great routes, showing a knack for deciphering coverages and getting open against both man and zone looks. Jones caught everything thrown his way and found the end zone numerous times on deep routes.
12
DB
Shurod Thompson
Brentwood (Calif.) Liberty
Recruiting wrap: Thompson is committed to Cal.
Performance: When the assignment called for defending a slot receiver, Thompson did fine to keep up and even knocked away a few passes. But, naturally, the four-star prospect looked far more comfortable at safety as a center fielder of sorts, chasing down deep passes and neutralizing receivers down field. He was at his best inside the end zone where he could be more physical.
13
QB
Ian Book
El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge
Recruiting wrap: Book is committed to Washington State.
Performance: The 6-foot, 171-pound pro-style prospect might not have the biggest arm, but he proved to be very effective on intermediate throws and was undoubtedly the most accurate passer in the tournament. Book moved well in the pocket and put throws only where his receivers could catch them, showing good poise and discipline to take what defenses were giving him.
14
DB
Tayler Hawkins
Palm Springs, Calif.
Recruiting wrap: Hawkins holds offers from San Diego State, San Jose State, Washington and Washington State.
Performance: If this spring is any indication, Hawkins might be one of the most overlooked prospects in the state. He was aggressive in his pursuit of the football down field, but just as instinctive on underneath throws. Hawkins made an interception near the goal line where he read the quarterback the entire way and stepped in front of the throw.
15
WR
Chase Williams (2018)
Corona (Calif.) Eleanor Roosevelt
Recruiting wrap: Williams is new to the recruiting process.
Performance: Though he was one of the youngest competitors in the event, Williams looked remarkably seasoned. He was smooth and fluid as a route runner, but also technically sound against some more experienced corners. Williams definitely looks like one to monitor moving forward.
16
ATH
Beau Bisharat (2018)
Carmichael (Calif.) Jesuit
Recruiting wrap: Bisharat recently took unofficial visits to Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington. He hopes to make a decision sooner rather than later.
Performance: The big back was solid in the slot and moved well off the line of scrimmage. He didn't gain much separation against defenders, but he was assertive in traffic and looked comfortable matching up against corners and linebackers in space, particularly on one play near the seam where he went up to make a contested catch.
