Best in the West QBs - Part II

The fastest rising quarterback on the west coast is Nathan Longshore (6-5, 226, 4.8) from Canyon Country (Calif.) Canyon. Longshore has tremendous mechanics and a bazooka for an arm.
One of the most impressive things about Longshore besides his arm strength and overall football skills is his leadership ability. Longshore has a huge arm and many times it is too potent for high school players, which is a cause for a lot of dropped balls. Longshore never complains he goes over and pats his teammate with a “we will get it next time attitude.”

Longshore has several offers but doesn’t want to release them at this time. He doesn’t want to talk about how good he is or how many offers he has, citing he doesn’t want anything he says to be used as locker room material against his team or against him.
Longshore passed for 2,200 yards and 18 touchdowns while playing in a run oriented offense. He also scored six touchdowns rushing the football.
Longshore’s performance saw him be selected first-team all-CIF and all-league as a junior.
USC, UCLA, Cal, Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona, Colorado and San Diego State are Longshore’s top eight schools at the current time.
Fourth on our list is Brian Hildebrand (6-2, 190, 4.68) from Corona, Calif. Hildebrand first grabbed Rivals attention at the Nike Camp held at USC last April and he has been impressing Rivals and others ever since.
Hildebrand has incredible accuracy. The kind of accuracy that is reminiscent of Joe Montana. Accuracy isn’t the only thing to like about Hildebrand he can throw with touch and with zip on the ball.
Hildebrand has thrown for 4,498 yards and 31 touchdowns for his career at Corona, while throwing for 1,898 yards and 22 touchdowns against only seven interceptions as a junior.
Hildebrand has offers from Oregon State and San Diego State while getting recruiting attention from UCLA, Colorado and Arizona State.
Landing at the fifth spot is Erik Ainge (6-6, 180, 4.6) from Hillsboro (Ore.) Glencoe. Ainge certainly has big time athletic bloodlines.
Ainge’s athletic bloodlines go back two generations. His grandfather Don Ainge received a full ride to Oregon for both football and basketball. His father Doug Ainge received a full scholie to BYU for his basketball skills.
Of course everyone knows who is uncle is. His uncle for the uninitiated is Danny Ainge. Danny Ainge was College Player of the Year in basketball when he attended BYU. He also had a very successful 14-year career in the NBA and played three full seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ainge threw for 2,559 yards and 16 touchdowns completing 177 passes out of 311, hitting 56.9% of his attempts as a junior. He has from Oregon State, Arizona and ASU. Oregon told Ainge that if their quarterback recruit (Dennis Dixon) opts for baseball that their offer would be in the mail the very next day.
Ainge is also one of the state of Oregon’s top basketball prospects and he’s being recruited for his skills on the hardwood as well at this time he isn’t sure what sport he will participate in college or if he will try both.
Look for part three on our look at the best of west signal callers very soon.
