Bernard Hicks Makes It Official

It appears the Bernard Hicks saga is over as the Fresno (Calif.) Edison defensive back has now officially committed to Cal. There were rumors that Hicks actually told the Cal coaches he was coming on his official visit two weeks ago and Edison head coach Tim McDonald confirmed he's a Bear.
"Yeah, it's a done deal, Bernard is going to Cal," McDonald said. "You can chalk that one up J.D Williams (Cal DB coach). Bernard really liked him and there was a nice connection because J.D played here at Edison. He loved his visit and likes the idea of staying close to home and playing for a team on the rise."
Hicks, 5-11, 190 pounds had committed to Washington State early in the process after visiting Pullman in late October. The safety even told us the night before he left to visit Cal that he was solid to the Cougars and didn't even think he would take the visit. It's a solid pickup for the Bears as Hicks was one of the top cover corners in the one on one drills at the NorCal Nike Camp and also tested well running a 4.56 in the 40, 4.06 in the shuttle and jumped 31 inches in the vertical.
