Bernard goes public with decision

He had been a silent commit for over a month but on Thursday, Chandler (Ariz.) defensive back Harold Bernard got the news he was waiting for and turned his silent in to a firm commitment for Stanford.
Bernard, 6-1, 170 pounds took an official visit to Stanford back on (Sept. 21) and then visited Colorado the following weekend on (Sept. 28).

"I actually gave Stanford a silent commitment a little bit after my visits," Bernard said. "I needed to pass admissions first so that's why my commitment was only a soft one.
"I had a trip set up for Oregon State but Coach Anderson at Stanford called me on Thursday and gave me the good news. He told me I was cleared and I went ahead and solidified my commitment right then and there.
"PIcking Stanford was kind of an easy choice. You really can't beat their combination of athletics and academics and I really like the direction Coach Harbaugh has the program going in. When they beat USC, that was huge and it just shows that they can be a strong a football school.
"Right now, I'm just really excited to have my decision made. It was kind of stressful at times waiting to see if I was going to clear admissions or not. I had some other good options but Stanford was always my top choice and I'm very excited to be going there."
