Offensive tackle Everett Benyard (6-7, 320, 5.1) from San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral Catholic took his first official visit this weekend to the campus of Oregon and he liked what he saw.

"I really got a feel for how the coaches relate to their players and bond with them," Benyard said. "I was able to get an up close view of how it would be to be coached by them. The camaraderie of Oregon's team was something I hadn't seen before."
"I haven't committed to them yet, but I am getting close," Benyard said. "I am going to discuss with my family. My dad went on the trip with me and I am sure we are going to talk about on the flight home."
"Oregon was my first official visit," Benyard said. "I haven't set any other visits with exact dates, but I know around they will be. The other schools that I could visit are Arizona, Arizona State, Utah and Washington."
The talented tackle from San Diego has offers on the table from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, San Diego State and Utah.
Benyard has had solid senior season thus far as the anchor for an offensive line that is getting it done running as well as passing.
Benyard and his Cathedral Catholic teammates are a perfect 5-0. They will take on San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln this coming Friday on October 17th.
For his junior season, Benyard earned first-team all-league and second-team all-CIF.
Benyard was selected to the Rivals.com California Preseason Top 100 for the class of 2009 landing as the Golden State's No. 85 prospect at any position.
