Bennett talks Pitt offer

University of Detroit Jesuit linebacker Parris Bennett attended camps at three BCS programs over the last week. One of those performances earned the 6-foot, 215-pound 'backer an offer.
"At Pitt, after their camp, I got offered by their staff," Bennett reported. "They said if I had a good camp that they were going to offer me. I went down there, performed and I guess they liked what they saw."

Saturday's camp at Pittsburgh also gave Bennett the opportunity to evaluate the school, coaches and program.
"Their facilities are great and seeing all the tradition that they have, all the great players that have been through there, it was pretty impressive," Bennett said.
"The coaches, I enjoyed them. They were lively guys and I enjoyed the way they were coaching us. My position coach and Coach [Matt] House - they enjoyed the way I played. They were pairing me up against the best back and enjoyed the way I met the challenge."
Prior to the Pitt offer, Bennett had collected offers from several MAC programs as well as Syracuse. He talked about how the Pitt offer changes his outlook on the recruiting process.
"There's definitely interest, especially after working with the coaches and how I enjoyed being coached by the linebackers coach," Bennett said. "I want to explore more the academic side of things and see how that is going to go."
Bennett attended a camp at Cincinnati the day prior to the Pitt camp, and he was at Northwestern for their camp on Monday.
"[Northwestern] said I am high on their board, but they only have one linebacker spot left," Bennett said. "They have to go through all the camps and get back in contact with me about where I stand."
Later this week Bennett will attend the Sound Mind, Sound Body Camp in Southfield, Mich., where coaches from several Division I staffs will be working, and he plans to be at Wisconsin's camp on June 18. A decision is expected to follow soon after.
"I'm pretty sure I am going to make a decision more toward the end of this month," Bennett said. "I am not trying to wait, and I think I will know for sure by the end of the month."
