Benjamin talks new offers, leaders

Hollywood (Fla.) McArthur three-star linebacker Jeremy Benjamin picked up a new offer earlier this week.
"I picked up an offer from Pittsburgh," Benjamin said. "I have about five or six offers now."

The Panthers join Illinois, Navy, SMU, and West Virginia in offering the South Florida product. Other schools such as Florida, Florida State, and Miami are showing interest.
Benjamin, who is listed as an inside linebacker but says he prefers the outside linebacker position, doesn't know a great deal about the Panthers at this stage.
"I don't know a lot about them but I do know about the athletes that have come out of Pitt," Benjamin said. "Players like Larry Fitzgerald, LeSean McCoy, and I know there have been others."
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound defender has had a limited amount of contact with Paul Chryst and his staff thus far.
"I have spoken to one of their defensive coaches before," Benjamin said. "I haven't really talked with them since I got the offer. I plan to get in contact with them soon."
The South Florida prospect believes that Miami, the hometown school, may be close to offering. He is scheduled to make his way to Coral Gables on two occasions over the next month.
"On April 14th I was invited to Miami for their spring kickoff classic game and they also invited me to a camp that following week," Benjamin said. "I am planning to attend both of those."
Miami isn't the only visit that Benjamin wants to take in the coming weeks and months.
"I know I want to see a little bit more of Florida State because the first trip was pretty good," Benjamin said. "I know I also want to see West Virginia and Pittsburgh."
Benjamin has previously mentioned West Virginia and Florida State as frontrunners for his services, but he has since backed off those statements somewhat.
"Not anymore," Benjamin said when asked if he had a leader. "As far as any schools standing out, I really don't have one. They are all equal right now."
While he claims no leader at this time, Benjamin said a decision is possible as early as the end of May when he wraps up spring practices with his high school squad.
"It could be in the next month or two with my spring game coming up," Benjamin said. "There are about three or four coaches I have spoken to already who are planning to come down and see my spring game. If I talk to them and I hear some things that I like, I might want to verbally commit."
The schools that Benjamin is expecting to see at his spring game include Florida State, Pittsburgh, SMU, and West Virginia.
