Benjamin has the makings of a star

TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa (Fla.) Middleton sophomore defensive back Richard Benjamin is one of the younger prospects on Team Tampa. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder showcased his skills during a recent practice, but stood out at wide receiver as much as anything. When it comes time to head to the next level, Benjamin believes his role is in the secondary.
"I really think I will be better at defensive back at the next level," Benjamin said. "I think my best spot is safety."

While just a sophomore, Benjamin has already drawn early interest from two schools.
"New Mexico and Kansas are both sending me a lot of information," Benjamin said.
With two years remaining in his high school career, Benjamin's recruitment still has a ways to go. When it does come time for him to make decisions down the road, he is looking for a school that will help prepare him for life away from the field.
"What I am really looking for is my future, I love football but I really want to get my education," Benjamin said. "I am looking for a good school with a good education and then a good football team."
Benjamin hopes to see his college choices expand with participating in the BadgerSports 7-on-7 events in the coming weeks.
