Benenoch nearing a decision

Decision time is near for Katy (Texas) Seven Lakes four-star offensive tackle Caleb Benenoch.
UCLA, Texas, Oklahoma, and Baylor have been at the forefront of his mind for the last few months, and the 6-5, 320-pound standout has been able to thoroughly evaluate each of his options.

As he prepares to decide, he admits one school has taken the lead.
"I do (have a favorite), but I'm going to keep that too myself," Benenoch said.
The unnamed school has been in the lead for about a week now. There was no special moment, but he just knew.
"You just kind of wake up and it's on your mind all the time," Benenoch said. "That's kind of how it happened."
The school may be his favorite, but he is still undecided about his future.
"I think there's a school I like a lot and I'm trying to see if other people can beat it out. Or I'm trying to confirm if that's the place I want to be. I would say that's where I'm at right now," Benenoch said. "I don't think I'm quite ready to make the call yet, but I'm trying to see if anybody else can come in and make an impression."
While he does have a favorite on his mind, it will be interesting to see how everything shakes out over the next few weeks as he hits the road. Friday, he takes his second official visit of the recruiting process.
"I have an official to UCLA on Friday," Benenoch said. "I will be there until about middle of the day on Sunday. I'll be there to watch them play Stanford in the Rose Bowl, and hang out with the players and the coaches and get a feel for what it's about. I'm excited."
Visits to Baylor and Texas are also being discussed, but nothing has been scheduled. The Longhorns have mentioned December 7 for the Longhorns' banquet, while Benenoch plans to visit Baylor for their match-up with Oklahoma State and could make that an official visit.
The Oklahoma Sooners are also very much in the conversation, with coach Bob Stoops and offensive line coach James Patton, looking to make an in-home visit in mid-December. Benenoch took an official visit to Norman September 21.
He is pretty much down to his final four, but over the last weeks, a few other schools have made some news with Benenoch. Last Saturday, he was in College Station to watch Texas A&M host Sam Houston State, but it was not a recruiting trip.
"I just wanted to go check out a game with one of my friends," Benenoch said.
Then there is a recent entry by Michigan, who let him know they had sincere interest and would like to host him for an official visit.
"I'll talk to them and see how it goes, but they're a little late," Benenoch said. "I'm coming down to the end of it."
It has been a long road for Benenoch as he has risen from sleeper to standout. He has seen the mail stack high, and schools from all across the country do their best to attract his attention. It has been a fun journey, full of great experiences. He has enjoyed the ride, and he is excited about taking the next step.
"I'm coming down the homestretch," Benenoch said. "I should make my decision pretty soon in December, so I'm really looking forward to it."
