Atco (N.J.) Winslow Township athlete Bill Belton thought he had his future all mapped out.
Then came the news that Dave Wannstedt would not be coaching him when he was to arrive at Pitt.
That caused the four-star prospect to rethink his decision and eventually open things back up. Now Belton has narrowed his focus to three schools that he will choose from, but he isn't sure whether he will be signing in February or later.
"I don't believe he's going to do the early signing period," said Bill Belton, Sr., the prospect's father. "It's a possibility. We won't know until we visit those schools."
Cincinnati, Penn State and West Virginia are the schools he is referring to.
Belton has narrowed his focus to those three programs. They all appear to be even at this point, and while he plans on taking official visits to each of them he doesn't have any dates in mind yet.
None of those schools had in-home visits with Belton recently, so his official visits to those schools will prove pivotal in his recruitment. Since he had been solidly committed to Pitt since the summer he will need time to build relationships with the coaches from the schools on his new short list.
