Bell gets new offer, plans trips

Dallas (Texas) Hillcrest cornerback Derrius Bell has added yet another scholarship offer late in the recruiting process. This time it's again from the Big 12.
The 5-foot-9, 157-pounder received an offer from Kansas this week and it looks like that the connection to the Jayhawks have him eyeing a future visit.

"I'm really interested in Kansas because I played at Wilmer Hutchins with Xavier Rambo and Anthony Webb before the school closed," Bell said. "I think I'd be real comfortable up there because I know some people. Plus, I'd have the opportunity to come in and play early.
"I also really like coach Earnest Collins, the defensive back coach. He seems like a cool guy."
Bell's first official visit will be to Tulsa on Dec. 8. After that, it's up in the air.
"I think Kansas will be the next stop," Bell said. "I'm also still interested in Baylor and as a matter of fact, I really like SMU. I had a coach come visit me at my house and talk to my parents. It would be close to home and that's a good thing.
"I just liked what they had to tell me about SMU."
