Beljour waiting to narrow list

Hackensack (N.J.) running back / outside linebacker
Jean Beljour is heading into the playoffs and has nothing else on his mind. Several schools have offered, but he said there will be time for that when the season is over. Right now, he just wants to enjoy his last playoff run in high school.

Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn, Oklahoma State, and Wisconsin have all offered scholarships and are all being considered along with three other schools: Virginia, Tennessee, and Nebraska.
“A Virginia assistant coach is calling and said they are still evaluating me,” Jean explained. “Tennessee is calling and wants me as a fullback, and Nebraska is looking at me as linebacker.
“I want to run the ball but it really doesn’t matter. Just so I suit the team. I mean I need to do what is best for the team. It is up to them.
“I am looking at the coaching staffs and the environment really. I want to fit into the mesh, and I want to go where I won’t be miserable.”
Although he has started to look at schools he is in no rush to make a decision.
“I have no idea when I will decide, but it will be as late as possible,” he commented “Right now I am concentrating on the season. People are evaluating me, so I am going to evaluate them on my visits.”
He plans to wait until after the season to set up any official visits, but has already visited Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse, and UConn unofficially. Hackensack is currently 7-2 and starts the playoffs next week.
Rated the No. 25 running back in the country by Rivals.com, Beljour stands 6-foot-0, weighs 200 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds. He also boasts a 35 inch vertical leap.
Beljour currently maintains a 3.0 GPA and has already scored a 900 on the SAT. He wants to major in some kind of science, and wants to go into education and to eventually become a coach.
An all-north Jersey second team linebacker and all-county second team running back as a junior, Jean has continued to excel at both positions as senior. Although unsure of his defensive stats, he has rushed for more than 800 yards and 14 touchdowns.
