Behrens still taking his time

Omaha (Neb.) Millard North three-star fullback Jake Behrens hasn’t been too focused on recruiting – mainly because he’s focused on helping his team get back to the state championship game.
“We have a lot of high expectations,” Behrens, who is 6-foot and 219 pounds, said. “We have to keep working hard and we want to get back to the state championship game. It’s going to be tough for us to be satisfied with anything but a state championship.”

Behrens, ranked as the No. 8 fullback, said he likes the responsibility of being the team leader and enjoys the pressure.
“Somebody has to take the leadership,” he said. “But we also have a lot of seniors that’ll help take some of the leadership. And I know they’ll also do a good job of it. But I also take the target that they put on my back and put it right back on their back. I turn it into motivation.”
Behrens has been focused on four teams for some time – Colorado, Stanford, Nebraska and Notre Dame. He has scholarship offers from Colorado and Stanford.
“I’m so focused on football, and once I wrap that up, I’ll take the next step,” he said. “But I definitely think about it a lot. I’ll just see how it plays out during the season.”
Behrens has not set up any official visits at this point.
