Behemoth leads the charge

One of the reasons that Culver City, Calif., high school can run such a high octane offense is the fact they have an outstanding offensive line doing the blue collar work of providing pass protection and opening holes. Probably the main road grader for Culver City is offensive guard Ryan Yoshida (6-3, 315, 5.2).
“Ryan Yoshida is a hard worker who benches 325 and squats 400,” Culver City offensive line coach Scott Macrillo said. “Besides good strength, Yoshida is very quick and has great feet.”

“Ryan also has an excellent use of his hands,” Macrillo said. “Once he gets his paws on an opponent it is pretty much over for him”
Yoshida has the reputation as an outstanding drive blocker who is very aggressive, athletic and nimble on his feet for his size.
“We ran behind Ryan on the majority of our runs,” Macrillo said. “Especially when we need a tough yard, we follow him and he comes through.”
“Ryan is much focused and practices as hard as he plays,” Macrillo said. “He carries what he learns in practice to games on Friday Nights.”
Yoshida was selected all-league as a junior and he has been a starter since his sophomore year.
What is Yoshida looking for in a school?
“I want to major I massage therapy,” Yoshida said. “The school I chose as to be strong in that field of study.”
Yoshida is getting recruiting action from San Diego State, USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington.
A solid senior season will enhance Yoshida’s stock.
