Bednar works on improving

Mentor, Ohio, lineman Brad Bednar has been working hard at improving his game. Already thought of as one of the best players in the Cleveland area, he's now got his sights set on being one of the best players in all of Ohio.
"I probably need to improve my overall strength," he said. "Other than weight, that's the biggest thing. But I don't want to put on too much weight. I just want to focus on getting stronger."

At 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, Bednar hopes to be around 260 or 270 pounds by the start of football season. He hopes he can add good weight but also not lose the things that he's really good at.
"I'm probably the best at pass blocking and pulling," he said.
When it comes to recruiting, Bednar does have one offer on the table. He's hoping that offer list grows soon.
"I have an offer from Bowling Green and then strong interest from Stanford and Cincinnati," he said. "I talked to my recruiting coach from Stanford the other day and in the third week of May the offensive line coach is going to come up. Basically he just wants to see if I have the frame or not. Then Cincinnati, they just want to get me down to see Cincinnati and talk with them."
He admits he grew up a fan of Illinois but said he's open to about anybody and has a good idea what the perfect school will have.
"As of now I'd probably have Stanford on top," he said. "But I think the biggest factor is just what kind of school it is and if they have a good engineering program. I want to major in mechanical engineering. I followed Illinois growing up. Just basically the school. My dad went there. So I watched Illinois basketball and football."
Bednar has a simple goal for his senior season.
"Since I'm one of the captains my main goal is worrying about the line," he said. "I'm not going to go out and make state championship goals yet. I'm just going to keep it simple."
