Beckford plans to take an unofficial this week

Irvington, N.J. linebacker Dwayne Beckford is looking at visits. In fact, the 6-foot-0, 209-pounder plans to make a visit this week to one of the schools showing interest.
"I want to visit Purdue, Temple, Alabama, Rutgers and Michigan State sometime soon," he said. "I'm looking at going to Rutgers season opener on Thursday. I just want to go see how the games are, the intensity, crowd, and what it looks like. I've been to Rutgers numerous times, but not for a game.

"They haven't offered yet. I talked to their quarterback coach and they want to watch my senior film and then they may offer."
Currently Beckford holds offers from Connecticut, Michigan State, Purdue, Syracuse, Temple, East Carolina and Toledo.
Who else is considering offering the two-star prospect?
"I'm getting a lot more letters from Tennessee and Alabama," he said. "They aren't talking about offers, but telling me what I could do if I went to their schools. They seem to be pretty serious."
Meanwhile, Beckford is keeping busy preparing for the upcoming season which opens on September 8th.
"We're just working real hard," he said. "I'm playing tight end, linebacker and slot receiver. We already had one scrimmage and did real well. I've seen a big improvement in the running game and the defense is a lot more aggressive."
