Beckford holds two offers

One of the most impressive prospects at the recent Elite College Combine was Irvington, N.J. linebacker Dwayne Beckford. The 6-foot-2, 212-pounder holds two offers and his interest has picked up since Tuesday night.
"I think the Elite went really well," he said. "I showed I'm more athletic than I probably look and can cover a little bit too. I think coaches also saw that I'm more physical.

"I still feel I could probably work on my speed a bit and be a bit quicker on my feet. Overall it was really good and gave me more exposure."
Since then quite a few colleges have picked up on the Garden State linebacker.
"Illinois came by my school, Connecticut, Buffalo, Michigan State and Syracuse," he said. "This week has been real crazy.
"I've already got offers from Temple and Toledo. Toledo I got a couple weeks ago and Temple was this week. I'm just glad that I'm as highly recruited as I am. I never thought this would be a reality for me."
Michigan State and Syracuse have discussed possibly offering Beckford if he attends their summer camps in the coming months.
At this time, are there any favorites for the linebacker?
"I'm really interested in Temple, Virginia, Rutgers and Michigan State," he said. "I've got family in Temple and Virginia and Rutgers is like hometown for me. As for Michigan State, I've always liked the Wolverines and Spartans."
In general, what is Beckford looking for in a college?
"My mother and I discussed it and I'm going to go where I can get the best education at. If not, I shouldn't be going there," he said. "I do want to study marine biology and I think that'll be a big factor for me. As for location, it's no a concern. I can deal with any kind of weather."
Later this month, Beckford plans to head to Rutgers for Nike Camp on the 19th and is also looking at camps to Syracuse, Michigan State, Buffalo and Temple.
Beckford registered 85 tackles, 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries as a junior on his way to all-conference, all-area and all-junior.
