Beavers land State POY

There is good news for Beaver fans. Dennis Erickson and Oregon State have received a pledge from the State of Oregon’s 4A Player of the Year when Andy Darkins (6-3, 230, 4.67) from Lake Oswego, Ore., decided that playing close to home will suit him just fine.
“Oregon State is where I felt the most appreciated as a football player,” Darkins said. “It just felt right.”

“I also like how Oregon State recruited in state guys,” Darkins said. “The Beaver staff was smart about that.”
Darkins was one of the most highly decorated players in Oregon after his brilliant senior season that saw him selected 4A Player of the Year and League Player of the Year. He was also 1st-team all-state, all-area and all-league.
The honors don’t stop there. He was also a 1st-team Northwest Nugget and a member of the Best in the West team.
Darkins was unstoppable from his linebacker position racking up an astronomical 178 tackles, 95 tackles for loss and eight sacks as a senior.
