Beavers first to offer Martinez

Oregon State had been showing interest in Blake Martinez since the start of his junior season and apparently the Beavers had finally seen enough film to offer the Oro Valley (Ariz.) Canyon Del Oro inside linebacker.
It's the first offer for Martinez, a 6-foot-1, 242-pound prospect who was arguably the top linebacker at the Phoenix Under Armour Combine in February. Many other programs are showing interest as well.

"I've gotten letters and stuff from them and I talked to their recruiting people about a month ago," Martinez said of Oregon State.
"I talked to the coaches for a little bit and they said they looked over a bunch of my film and I guess they liked my film a lot.
"I've always been looking at them because I've liked the Oregon schools in general. I've always had them in the back of my mind because I've gotten interest from them since the beginning of my junior year."
Martinez is wasting no time scheduling a trip to see the Oregon State campus. He said a visit is planned to Corvallis for the last weekend this month to watch the Beavers' spring game but he doesn't plan to make a commitment soon.
The Canyon Del Oro recruit could wait until even after his senior season to make his decision.
"I'm going to wait and see what happens," Martinez said. "I'll probably wait until my season is over."
More programs are showing lots of interest in Martinez, who said Boise State has been heavily involved and he's also hearing from San Diego State, Stanford, Arizona State and Arizona. He plans to tour Stanford's campus before the Palo Alto NIKE Camp later this spring.
