Beaumont ATH staying patient

Athlete Billy Chavis isn't too worried about recruiting.
The 6-foot-5, 218-pounder has played all over the field for his high school team. He started at quarterback but then moved to running back and wide receiver with the addition of dual-threat thrower Joe Chaisson last year. His interest from colleges as a versatile player is growing, but Chavis isn't getting too caught up in anything just yet.

"Man, I'm just relaxing," Chavis said. "I'd actually like to be at the beach, but spring break is going okay. I'm also just getting ready for spring practice in the off-season and getting ready for my ACT on April 8."
"After that, I'm pretty sure offers will start coming."
Kansas State and Oklahoma State are sending handwritten mail to Chavis while schools like Texas, Arkansas, Baylor, Miami, Texas A&M Oklahoma, and Texas Tech have all written him frequently in the past.
Three schools from that list are standing out.
"Texas is at the top for me right now and they're in there with Miami, LSU and Texas A&M," Chavis said. "I grew up wanting to go to those schools. I've seen them build up their programs since I was young. Whichever offers, it will be exciting."
As for camps, Chavis is planning on hitting the Oklahoma State camp in Houston in late March and in late April, he says that he's getting prepared for the NIKE Training Camp in College Station.
"I'm not rushing this process," he said. "I'm just waiting to see what happens first."
